Why Santa’s Yuletide Yurt is a Christmas experience unlike any other
​

A Little Christmas Story…

Once upon a very frosty evening, in a tiny corner of Cardiff, a small family with a big love for Christmas had an idea.
“What if,” they wondered,
“we created a place where the magic of the season lives inside a warm and twinkling yurt…
where children can craft, play and imagine…
and where families can slow down, cosy up, and enjoy Christmas the way it should feel?”

And so, Santa’s Yuletide Yurt was born — a new little pop-up, made by a family. We normally spend our days serving film & TV productions across Wales through our mobile café business, Coffi Pass — which means we’re used to creating smooth, high-quality experiences in all kinds of locations. This pop-up is our first Christmas project of this kind, but it’s built with the same care and professionalism that our production teams know us for.

This yurt is our winter adventure.
We decorated it ourselves, built the craft stations by hand, thought up the treasure hunts over cups of hot chocolate, and placed every sparkle and fairy light with care. It’s small, homegrown, heartfelt — and very much a labour of love.

Because this is our very first year, we’re learning as we go.
There may be tiny snowflakes of imperfection along the way — but every part of this project has been created with joy, excitement, and the hope of giving families a truly magical experience.

What to expect...

Step into a winter wonderland inside our cosy, double-decked yurt, warmly lit and full of festive décor.
We offer two separate experiences, each bookable on its own:

1. Meet Father Christmas
(Ticket Type 1 – Short Visit)

A warm, personal visit with Father Christmas in our magical festive setting.
Each booked child receives:

  • A personal meet-and-greet

  • A festive chat

  • A special gift to take home 🎁

  • Time for photos

  • A calm, intimate environment

This ticket is for the Father Christmas visit only.
It does not include the 1 hour 30 minutes 'The Children’s Christmas Workshop Experience'

Duration: ~5 minutes per family group
Perfect for: quick magical visits, especially for younger children.

2. Festive Activity Sessions
(Ticket Type 2 – 1 Hour 30 Minutes)

Our activity sessions are packed with Christmas fun, but designed so the exact activities remain a magical surprise.

Over 1 hour 30 minutes you can expect plenty of:

  • Craft workshops (making decorations, lanterns, winter crafts)

  • Interactive festive games

  • Treasure hunts

  • Group story time

  • Seasonal music and cosy lighting

  • A calm, small-group atmosphere

The exact crafts or games change daily, so each visit feels fresh and surprising.
You’ll always get lots to do — we just keep the details magical until you arrive.

This ticket does not include a visit to Father Christmas.
To see Santa, you must book a Meet Father Christmas ticket separately.

✨ The Children’s Christmas Workshop Experience — ACTIVITIES  (All 1 hour 30 minutes)

👶 Toddler Craft & Play Sessions

(Ages 1–4)

Sensory-friendly, quieter sessions with sparkly crafts, soft lighting, gentle games and relaxed story time.

🎒 After School Craft & Activity Sessions

(Ages 4–10)

Creative and lively sessions with group games, craft challenges, storytelling and mini treasure hunts.

​

🌙 Adult Evening Workshops

A calm, grown-up festive evening: mulled wine, wreath-making, Christmas crafting and seasonal treats.

✨ WHY THEY’RE SEPARATE

To keep both experiences calm, magical and personal:

  • Santa visits stay intimate and unhurried

  • Activity sessions stay high-energy and creatively focused

  • Families can choose one or both experiences depending on preference

  • Everything runs on time, with no queuing or rush

Many families book both experiences (Santa first, activities after), but they remain separate tickets.

You’ll always enjoy a full session of festive fun, but the exact activities, crafts and games change day-to-day.
We do this to:

  • Keep the experience magical

  • Prevent repetition for returning families

  • Allow staff to tailor activities to age group and weather

We always promise plenty of festive fun — but we keep some of the details a surprise so every visit feels magical.​

Child Activity Ticket £15 : Includes full 1.5-hour session

Meet Santa £12.50: Meet Father Christmas + gift
Adult Evening Workshop Tickets £20: Includes all craft materials + one mulled wine or hot drink

Adult Festive Games: Bingo and Quiz prices from £1 entry fee.

All tickets must be booked in advance so we can manage capacity.

Roath Church House
Our festive yurt will be located lawn outside the building.
There is plenty of free street parking, and sessions are booking-only with limited numbers, keeping the flow calm and manageable.

We offer two separate experiences:

Important:
A Santa visit is not included in the activity ticket, and activity sessions are not included in a Santa visit.

🎨 What happens during the 1 hour 30 minutes 'The Children’s Christmas Workshop Experience'?

Expect plenty of Christmas fun — always.
But we keep some of the details a surprise, so each visit feels magical and unique.

Activities may include:

  • Festive crafts (snow globes, decorations, costumes, gifts)

  • Interactive games & dancing

  • Mini treasure hunts

  • Group story time

  • Calm creative spaces

  • Seasonal music, warm lighting & cosy corners

The exact activities differ day-to-day, age group to age group, and sometimes based on the weather — which keeps things fresh and exciting.

👶 Which age group should I book for?

Choose the session best suited to your child:

Toddler Sessions — Ages 1–4 - (10am-3pm)

  • Gentle, sensory-friendly activities

  • Soft music & calm pacing

  • Space for little ones to explore safely

After School Sessions — Ages 4–10 (3pm Onwards)

  • Higher-energy crafts & games

  • Fun group activities

  • Designed for school-age children with longer attention spans

Adult Evening Workshops —18+ (7:30pm Onwards)

  • Mulled wine

  • Wreath-making and winter crafts

  • A calm, cosy festive escape

👨‍👩‍👧 Can adults come along? What about siblings?

Yes, absolutely.

  • Adults attend children’s sessions free of charge, unless stated otherwise.

  • Siblings should each have their own child ticket if they want to take part in activities.

  • Young babies who are not participating do not need a ticket.

If you need space for buggies, wheelchairs, or extra support, just let us know — we’re a small family business and will always do our very best to accommodate.

❄️ Is the yurt accessible?

Yes, as much as the outdoor setting allows.

  • The yurt sits on flat ground outside Roath Church House

  • The entrance has a low threshold

  • Buggy parking is available

  • Warm heating keeps the yurt cosy

  • Space can be arranged for wheelchairs or mobility aids

  • We can adjust session flow for neurodivergent children with advance notice

🌟 What should we wear or bring?

  • The yurt is heated, but layers are always best

  • Sensible shoes if it’s wet or icy

  • A camera or phone for Santa photos

  • Optional: a snack or drink from the Coffi Pass van before/after

Everything else is provided.

📸 Can we take photos?

Yes — please do!

You’re welcome to take photos in:

  • The Santa Visit

  • The yurt during activity sessions

  • Craft and story corners

We just ask that you respect the privacy of other families.

🎁 Does the The Children’s Christmas Workshop Experience include a gift?

No — gifts are part of the Santa Visit only.

The Children’s Christmas Workshop Experience tickets include access to all festive crafts (which you can take home), games and surprises — but not a Santa gift.

🔄 What if I need to change my booking?

We understand plans change.

  • More than 72 hours before your session:
    ✔ Free reschedule or refund

  • 24–72 hours before:
    ✔ We’ll try to reschedule if space allows

  • Less than 24 hours / no-show:
    ❌ Non-refundable

☃️ What happens if the weather is bad?

The yurt is heated and weather-resistant.

If extreme weather forces us to close or pause sessions, you’ll be offered:

  • A full refund, or

  • A transfer to another date

We prioritise safety and will keep you updated.

 
🍪 Is food or drink included?

Food and drinks are not included, but the Coffi Pass van will be open outside the yurt serving:

  • Hot chocolate

  • Barista coffee

  • Gingerbread & festive bakes

  • Savoury snacks

  • Mulled wine for adult evenings
